Realizing Major Change Bootcamp
This SEF Certification prerequisite is focused on providing participants with an understanding of the patterns seen in successful strategic change and transformation initiatives. The program is based on Conner Partners’ five decades of research and consulting and our Strategy Execution Framework (SEF). The SEF is focused on achieving change realization — that is, fulfilling the desired business outcomes and promise of the change. Content includes:
An introduction to SEF principles and concepts
The critical role of Intent and Intent Management
Understanding key change roles, constituents, and role mapping
Characteristics of effective Sponsorship
Enrollment: building understanding and commitment to change
The commitment journey: exercising Resolve and harnessing resistance
Understanding Synergy and how it impacts change execution effectiveness
Organizational Capacity: balancing change demand and absorption
When and how to align Culture to drive change realization
Change execution risk mitigation planning
This highly interactive professional development program includes multiple opportunities for initial exposure to SEF tools and resources, thereby building a solid foundation to further explore and apply learnings in the Certification program. In addition to the class instruction, participants work in small breakout teams with a dedicated Conner Partners facilitator and have full-group discussions with all participants and the Conner Partners facilitator team.
SEF Certification
The primary intent of SEF Certification is to prepare individuals to apply and execute best practices in supporting their organizations’ or their clients’ strategic change and transformation initiatives. The value of SEF Certification is the deeper immersion into the change execution success factors introduced in the Realizing Major Change Bootcamp. It prepares individuals to leverage the SEF and its principles, concepts, and tools. This deeper application-level instruction includes coaching, hands-on application assignments, and use of an SEF toolkit. It also includes a module focused on sponsor–agent contracting to address the critical relationship between strategic change executive sponsors and the key individuals supporting them in change implementation.
This rich learning journey* includes many aspects of graduate-level education where participants will collaborate with peer learners in small teams (Pods) to complete a series of application assignments, participate in peer reviews with Conner Partners team input and guidance, receive direct coaching through Conner Partners office hours, and participate in a final presentation to demonstrate competency and readiness. Each participant receives a high touch one-on-one debrief and tailored development recommendations to guide continued growth and development.
This program is targeted for professionals directly involved in implementing and/or supporting strategic change and transformation initiatives. Classes are limited to 25 participants.
* Online in-class time over the 3-month learning journey totals approximately 4.5 days, including the 2-day Realizing Major Change Bootcamp. For those who previously completed the Realizing Major Change Bootcamp, the remaining online in-class time to complete the certification journey is approximately 2.5 days. All Pod working sessions are self-scheduled and managed by Pods within Conner Partners-provided schedule guidance. Average time to complete each Pod assignment ranges between 2–4 hours for each of six assignments. Individual reading assignments’ average completion time is 30 minutes per reading (6–8 readings total over the three months).
